  CANDIDATE - Career Change
You may find numerous reasons for looking for a career change. It may be simply because you find something more interesting to work upon, perhaps you are fed up of the present profile, or you are forced to look up for another job. So, are you facing that career change dip? Take your sure footing before stepping out for a career change. You need not be panicky about a potential career change. All that you need to do is to perform a Change Needs Analysis (CNA) to figure out whether you really need a career change or not. CNA proceeds through 5 steps and you need to be sincere in your approach and evaluation.
1.
Draw Your Likes and Dislikes

The most probable reason why you look out for a career change is your dislike for the present job. This may range from personal reasons; micromanaging nature of the boss or family matters, to dislikes for company policies. So, identifying your dislikes is essential. However, you will never come to know of the direction to change your career unless you identify your likes. Just go for a check into your likes at work. You may ask questions such as what do I really want to do at spare time? What do I like doing when I am at work; when I’m at home. What energizes and excites me? Take quality time assessing your interests. This will help you drive your career to the right direction.
2.
Researching New Careers

Once you recognized your likes and dislikes, spend sometime researching the right careers that centre around your passions. However unsure you are about the success, think as if you are at the right place. The more you search for information, the higher the odds you win the game.
3.
Identify the Transferable Skills

Make a separate list of your present skills and those required to excel in the current profile. Identify those skills that are transferrable to the new job. This will help reduce your anxiety and instil confidence you will perform well in the job.
4.
Put your Plans Together

Take your time to put the plans together. Other factors such as financial resources and family support are equally important. Draw a plan of action and follow it step by step. Think of all the factors from top to bottom. Paint a picture in your mind and not leave any stone unturned that must include what your office looks like, the kind of people you would like to work around and the income you would like to earn from it.

So, once you put the plans together, go for a deep analysis. It should be performed in such a way that you will be able to identify the satisfaction level. If you feel the present satisfaction level (PL) is less than your desired level (DL), a career change is necessary. If you feel more comfortable with the present job, there is no need for a potential job change. This could be summarized as below:

  INPUT PROCESS OUTPUT

If you find there is a need for change, as a next step, you need to equip yourself to excel in the changed platform.
5.
Equip Yourself for the Job

It is necessary that you update your skills to better perform in your changed job. You could enrich your career by joining continuing education courses or undergoing relevant training programmes.
